Solo Gardner

Solo Gardner

I tend a small patch for a solitary life, seeking no harvest for a crowded table. Some plants are so generous they need little space to thrive—a single squash trailing gold, a pepper bright with fire, or a tomato heavy with summer’s weight. I have planted only a few roots in the dark earth, yet if all goes well, I will have a bounty that overflows. When my cup runs over, I offer the surplus to those beyond my gate. For the lone gardener, just a few roots are all that are required.
